Rabbits are cute; no question. But please consider, preferably before you buy an animal, that this is a living being that can live up to 10 years. During its life, it needs just as much attention and care as any living being that is dependent on a human.
If that should be clear to you, then we say: Hello dwarf rabbits!
Hello dwarf rabbits, who are you?
Origin: The little rabbits with their round heads, short ears, big eyes and cute snub noses are descended from wild rabbits. There are now many different breeds.
AppearancePygmy rabbits come in all possible coat colors and lengths: unicolored, variegated, with short and long fur. The ermine rabbit, for example, is completely white, the pygmy ram has long hanging floppy ears and the Angora rabbit has fluffy, cuddly fur.
BY THE WAY:Dwarf rabbits are not rodents. They belong to the lagomorph family.
Behaviour:Dwarf rabbits are lively animals. They jump around in their cage and curiously sniff their surroundings. Although they love the contact with their conspecifics and enjoy being stroked, they also like to be left alone from time to time.
Hello dwarf rabbits, how are you living?
Keeping: Rabbits should be kept in pairs at least. Loneliness makes the sociable animals sick. The cage must be big enough for your little friends to be able to let off steam. Because there is nothing a rabbit likes better than hopping around happily. A feeding bowl, a drinking trough, bedding, a hay rack and a sleeping hut belong in every cage. If your rabbits can let off steam outside the cage at least once a day, preferably in the garden, then they are happy.
BY THE WAY: Each rabbit should have its own sleeping hut; preferably made of wood!
Diet: Hay is the most important food for rabbits. Grass, fresh fruit and vegetables are also part of the little rascals' menu. They also love to nibble on twigs and leaves. In addition, fresh drinking water must always be available. Be careful not to feed them sprayed or putrid food or poisonous plants.
Harmful to your rabbits: lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, raw potatoes, yew branches, stress and noise.
They particularly like: fresh sprigs of hazelnut and hornbeam, kohlrabi leaves, carrots, apples, pears, parsley and dandelion.
Care: No animal likes a dirty home. To keep your rabbits happy and healthy, you need to clean their cage daily. From time to time you have to carefully trim their claws. The vet will show you how to do this. Fur care should not be neglected either.
